Methods: This study is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and exploratory investigation. Data were collected from 419 informal caregivers of patients admitted to adult and pediatric intensive care units between October 2024 and February 2025 through face-to-face interviews conducted in the hospital setting. The data collection tools were the Personal Information Form, the Barthel Index, and the Zarit Burden Scale. IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0 software was used to perform descriptive statistics, an independent samples t-test, a one-way analysis of variance, and a Pearson correlation analysis to analyze the data.

Results: The mean Barthel Index score for patients receiving care was 21.67 ± 31.81. It was determined that 65.15% of patients were completely dependent. The mean Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale score for caregivers was 41.35 ± 15.05, and 44.87% of caregivers had a moderate to severe level of caregiving burden. There was a moderately significant negative correlation between the Barthel Index and the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale scores (r = −0.557, p < 0.001).

Conclusion: The high level of functional dependency among patients in intensive care units increases the perceived burden on caregivers. These findings underscore the importance of planning supportive, holistic nursing interventions that reduce caregivers' burden during the intensive care process.

Abstract: Aim: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) considerably affects the quality of life in older adults, representing a major public health issue. This study examined the relationship between health beliefs and self-care management among elderly individuals with T2DM. Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional design was used with 335 older adults diagnosed with T2DM. Data were collected using the Socio-Demographic and Disease-Related Questionnaire, the Health Belief Model Scale, and the Self-Care Management Scale for Chronic Diseases. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine predictors of self-care management. Results: The mean Health Belief Model Scale score was 3.26 ± 0.31, indicating low health belief levels, while the mean Self-Care Management Scale score was 116.13 ± 21.95, showing moderate self-care management. Health beliefs were identified as the strongest predictor of self-care management (β = 0.60, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Elderly individuals with diabetes have inadequate health beliefs, which adversely affect self-care behaviors. Interventions that strengthen positive health beliefs may enhance self-care management and improve diabetes-related outcomes.

One of the theories used is Imogene King's Goal Attainment Theory, which improves the quality of care based on patient-nurse collaboration. In this study, nursing care was planned according to Imogene King's Goal Attainment Theory for a patient who underwent hysterectomy and transobturator tape (TOT) application. In the postoperative period, goals were set according to perceptions through collaboration between the nurse and the patient, in line with King's Goal Attainment Theory. Nursing practices were planned according to personal, interpersonal, and social systems and subsequently evaluated. The patient and nurse actively participated in nursing care through interaction and communication. Therefore, the patient's compliance with the process was facilitated, the quality of care improved, and both the nurse and patient gained autonomy. In conclusion, King's Goal Attainment Theory is an appropriate and effective theory that can be used in nursing care for women undergoing hysterectomy and TOT.

This case report aimed to retrospectively evaluate the care process of a woman who experienced intrauterine fetal death according to Swanson's Theory of Caring. Data were obtained through a face-to-face interview conducted approximately 20 days after delivery and a review of the patient's medical records. The care process was evaluated based on the five caring processes of Swanson's Theory of Caring: Knowing, Being With, Doing For, Enabling, and Maintaining Belief. The findings indicated that care primarily addressed physical needs, whereas psychosocial assessment, therapeutic communication, individualized bereavement support, counseling, and hope-promoting interventions were limited. Swanson's Theory of Caring provided a useful framework for identifying unmet psychosocial care needs and evaluating the comprehensiveness of nursing care. This case highlights the importance of theory-guided, holistic nursing care in improving the quality of care for women experiencing perinatal loss.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of acupressure on fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and anxiety in older adults with diabetes. This study is designed as a three-arm, parallel-group, double-blind, randomized controlled trial. The study is being conducted between January and October 2026 among hospitalized older adults with diabetes in a geriatric clinic. Eligible participants will be randomly allocated to the intervention, sham, and control groups in a 1:1:1 ratio. Participants in the intervention group will receive acupressure at predetermined acupressure points once daily for six consecutive days. Participants in the sham group will receive superficial pressure at non-therapeutic points with the same frequency and duration, whereas participants in the control group will receive routine treatment and nursing care only. Anxiety levels will be assessed using the State–Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The primary outcomes are fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels, and the secondary outcome is anxiety level. Prior to the main trial, an independent pilot study will be conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the intervention, participant attrition, and the effect size. The final sample size for the main trial will be re-estimated based on the effect size obtained from the pilot study. As this manuscript presents the protocol for a randomized controlled trial, the study findings will be reported after the completion of data collection and statistical analyses. This study is expected to provide evidence on the effects of acupressure on blood glucose levels and anxiety in older adults with diabetes. The findings are anticipated to support the integration of evidence-based integrative nursing practices into clinical care.
