Healthcare institutions, especially hospitals, are complex structures with various dangers arising from the working environment. In this system, delivery units are among the units with high physical, cognitive and organizational ergonomic risk factors. However, ergonomics is generally overlooked in these units. Exposure to ergonomic risk factors in maternity units causes problems such as musculoskeletal complaints, occupational accidents, malpractice, burnout and leaving the profession in healthcare professionals. However, the ergonomic design of the delivery units also affects the satisfaction of the pregnant women regarding the birth. Providing ergonomic working conditions in delivery units and improving room designs will increase the quality of life and productivity of healthcare professionals and contribute to the positive birth experience of women. For this reason, it is important to know the ergonomic risks in these units, to take precautions and to develop strategies to protect employee health.
